Sold as Individual pieces.
The aluminum ferrule is 1" tall and can be installed with or without a 0.2" plastic base ring.
ID is .370", OD is .540" if installed without base ring, OD is .550"+ with base ring.
Base rings are available for this design in green. The rings fit into the base of the ferrules and can be turned down upon installation to make the ferrule to sit perfectly flush on the hosel like a traditional plastic ferrule. If used without a base ring the quality of fit depends on the diameter of the hosel of your irons. Sets of 10 include 11 base rings with the order; individual orders include a single base ring.
These ferrules can be removed and reinstalled (other than the base ring, that'll be deader than fried chicken after removal). If you plan to reuse the ferrule, make sure to not grab it during removal with something that will mar or scratch the aluminum like pliers. We recommend a heat gun and heavy duty heat resistant work gloves.
The 1” aluminum ferrule weighs about 1.9g. The optional plastic base ring weighs about 0.5g. For comparison purposes, a standard (1.3”) plastic BB&F ferrule weights about 2.3g. So these ferrules will not have an inordinate impact on your clubs' swingweights.
FAQ's:
What are these made of?
Aluminum.
-Are they 3d printed?
No. They are CNC machined.
-What’s that ring at the bottom?
These ferrules can be installed with or without a base ring. The base ring is made of plastic and can be turned down like a traditional plastic ferrule so the ferrule sits perfectly flush with the hosel of the club. A metal ferrule installed without a base ring cannot be turned down (unless you have serious metalworking skills) but they are designed to match the diameter of most club hosels (0.54”).
-Do I need to buy 10 at a time?
No. You can buy as few as 1 ferrule of any design and mix and match your order however you see fit.
-How much do they weigh? Will they change the swing weight of my clubs?
The 1” aluminum ferrule weighs about 1.9g. The optional plastic base ring weighs about 0.5g. For comparison purposes, a standard (1.3”) plastic BB&F ferrule weights about 2.3g. So these ferrules will not have an inordinate impact on your clubs' swingweights.
-How do you install them?
The same way you install plastic ferrules - with epoxy when you install the shaft into the club head.
-Will they fit .370” shafts?
They should. We haven’t tested them on every shaft model in existence but we have tested them on quite a few and they fit every shaft we’ve tried except 1. If they are too small for your shafts please contact us to let us know. We can give you some tips on how to get them to fit.
-Will they fit hybrids or fairway woods?
No.
-How do you remove them?
The same way you remove a shaft from a club head - heat it until the epoxy bond breaks and then pull it off. If you plan to reuse the ferrule, make sure to not grab it with something that will mar or scratch the aluminum like pliers. We recommend a heat gun and heavy duty heat resistant work gloves.
-Will they melt?
The melting point of Aluminum is 1220 degrees F or 660 degrees C. A propane torch is capable of reaching these temps so if you use a torch to remove ferrules and shafts don’t apply the torch for an excessively long duration. We recommend a heat gun instead, The base rings are plastic and will melt just like any plastic ferrule.
-Can they be reused?
Yes! The base rings cannot but we sell extra / replacement base rings.
-Do you take custom orders?
Yes! If you supply your own artwork we will make you any design you’d like. There is a one-time $50 setup fee per design and after that you can have as few or as many ferrules of that design as you’d like for $10 per ferrule. If you’d like us to create the artwork for you we can do it but the price will be quoted depending on the details. Just contact us to start the conversation.
